The CDERP Discovery Basics program is designed for non-professionals who would like a basic understanding of Discovery but not the entire Customised Employment process and person-centred employment practice. This course in Discovery meets the needs of family and personal advocates looking to understand the process and provide a modest level of support to someone they may work with.
As researchers and practitioners supported by a global network of researchers and practitioners, you can be assured that our program is up-to-date and will continue to evolve. Our work is peer-reviewed and not simply an opinion; it’s based on reality and the translation of evidence into practice that has application in the real world – your world!
Enrollees in the program also receive ongoing mentoring and support, either through face-to-face, Zoom, or email, as they need it.
Satisfactory completion of the course requires 20 hours of practice, reading, mentoring and actual client work.
The Customised Employment Discovery professional program covers the following;
- Introduction to Customised Employment and Discovery Stage One
- Customised Employment and Discovery
- Discovery and Social Capital
- Discovery Stage One
- Informational Interviews
- Work Experience
- Self-Determination and Career Planning
- Self-Advocacy
- Discovery Stage Two
Within each lesson, you find practical assessments and quizzes to support your learning and a range of tools to support practice that meets the evidence for fidelity.
The course will also provide background information that supports not just Discovery but also your understanding of disability.
